Preparation Strategy
Align UPSC and OPSC Preparation
If you are preparing for UPSC alongside OPSC, about 70% of the syllabus overlaps. The key difference is the strong Odisha component. Dedicate at least 2 hours daily exclusively to Odisha-specific topics from day one of your preparation.
Optional Subject Selection
Choose your optional subject based on your graduation background and interest. Public Administration and Sociology are considered scoring and have good study material availability. History and Geography are popular among arts graduates from Odisha universities.
Answer Writing for Mains
OPSC Mains demands structured, analytical answers. Practice writing answers that balance factual content with your own analysis. Include Odisha-specific examples wherever possible — evaluators reward candidates who demonstrate local knowledge.
